Creative Approaches to Research is a new transdisciplinary online journal for creative research. It reflects the convergences between epistemology, pedagogy and technology. It incorporates multiple forms of text including academic and creative writing, sound, images, and multi-media.
Creative Approaches to Research recognises the need to extend the range of voices and ways for doing, reporting, and discussing research. The journal contributes to discussions on alternative forms of research and representation. It is underpinned by the premise that there are multiple ways of experiencing, knowing, and communicating.
The use of multidimensional texts in Creative Approaches to Research reflects the notion that there is no single, correct way to have an experience, or transmit knowledge of that experience. Creative approaches to research have the potential to reveal richness and complexity, and invite multiple levels of engagement that are cognitive, emotional and multi-sensory. Creative Approaches to Research questions what research is, what it might become, and how a journal might best reflect that evolution.
The journal is published twice yearly in June and December. We invite your contributions to this generative and co-creative conversation about multidimensional ways of representing, engaging, and interacting with ideas.
Creative Approaches to Research is a member of CrossRef and CrossCheck. As well as being hosted by its primary partner Informit, Creative Approaches to Research is available via ALPSP Learned Journals Collection and EBSCO journal databases.

We are currently seeking contributions that focus on the process of undertaking creative research at Masters and Doctoral levels. We are interested in the experience of both doing and supervising this type of research. We also encourage contributions from people who teach creative research methods and methodologies.
Submissions should be 4000–8000 words in length and include a 100-word abstract and brief author bio. Please register and send your submission online via the Journal Management System (JMS).
Submissions are accepted on the basis that they have not been previously published and are not under consideration elsewhere. A style guide and journal guidelines are available on the JMS.
Contributions to Creative Approaches to Research are evaluated by the editorial committee and two external referees. Submissions to the Student Exemplar section will be reviewed by the editorial committee.
Copyright is vested in each of the contributors in respect of his or her contribution, provided that on re-publication, due acknowledgment is made to Creative Approaches to Research. The editorial committee reserves the right to make stylistic alterations in the interests of clarity.
